OK, so you want some item you want, but you don't want to pay a whole lot of money for it. If you don't mind whether or not you get your item used (if you do want to buy new, then look at the trades part in the section "Other Stuff to do" below), then try doing what I do. I don't like spending lots of money on things new, so I go out and find my stuff used. I use these 3 sites and occasionally I use some others listed below:
**#1**http://craiglook.com/ (or http://www.crazedlist.org if you have Firefox)- With this neat site you can search all of Craigslist in any category, any distance, and more. Use this if you don't mind having to drive places or ask someone for shipping. On this site I got a $3,000-$4,000 Tama Starclassic 7 piece Maple kit for $700, a $300 Tama Starclassic Birch snare for $125, a Nice, $600 3-sided square pearl drum rack for $50, and more.
Tips:
-When talking to a seller either through email, phone call, or texting, talk about other things besides the item you're buying. For example: If you're buying an instrument, ask if he/she is/was in a band and if there are any videos up on any sites, such as YouTube or Metacafe. By doing this, the seller will think of you as more of a friend and not just a pushy guy doing business. Also by accomplishing this, the seller will more likely agree with a more convenient way to receive you item, like shipping it instead of traveling 500 miles.
-A really cool thing I discovered on this site is that if you search the word "Free", you get many pages of results of free stuff, mostly pianos and organs, but if you look for a good 10-20 minutes, you can find some other cool free stuff like acoustic guitars, hardshell drum cases, ping pong tables, furniture, boxes, and more.
-When searching for an item, try searching different variations of it. For example: Search- Tom Arm; also search Tom Mount, Tom Holder, Tom post, and Tom Stand. Search- Tama Starclassic; also search Starclassic and Star Classic. Search- Saluda Decadence Crash Cymbal; Also Search Saluda Decadence Crash, Decadence Crash, and Decadence. Search- Ping Pong Table; Also search Ping Table, Pong Table, Table Tennis, and just ping pong.

**#2**http://www.ebay.com/ - With Ebay you can find great deals on all types of stuff, ranging from tom arms to racks to hardware to furniture. Also, Ebay auctions usually end up in having better prices than Buy it Now Items. You won't believe how much money I've saved using Ebay. Probably more than a couple hundred dollars already.
Tips:
-If you're bidding on an Ebay Auction item, there's two really good ways to do it. The first one is wait to the last half hour to bid on it and keep refreshing the page and checking your Ebay email to see if anyone beat your bid. The second way is to bid on it anytime you want to, except you bid higher than you need to. Say that you're bidding on a $0.99 item that just started off. First, say you bid $5.00. Then, when others buyers view the item, is says that the price is still $0.99. However, if they bid $1.04, then it would instantly say that they were outbid every time that they bid on that item until they bid over $5.00 on it, which is above your maximum bid. You can do the same thing over and over if you still want to win the item in the auction.

Search- Ping Pong Table; Also search Ping Table, Pong Table, Table Tennis, and just ping pong.
-On your home Ebay page, look at the related items box; sometimes there will be an item that you've looking for for a cheaper price than you found. -If you see a "Best Offer" icon next to a search result try submitting a reasonable one that the seller might except.

**#3**http://www.musicgoround.com/ - This site has thousands of deals on instruments that you can't find anywhere else. Send them an Email about any of there items if you have any questions and then call them if you wish to buy it. MusicGoRound has stores across the USA and they're like most other music stores, but with better deals.
Tips:
-The one problem with the site is that most things are abbreviated so if you want a Tama Starclassic drum set, just search Tama or Starclassic.

Other Stuff To Do:
-Go to a store near you (Sam Ash, Guitar Center, True Value, Etc.) and see if they have any deals on used items. Sometimes, they can really be amazing, especially for instruments.
-When you're at a store online or in person and if that store has a claim that "this is the lowest price, give us another one and we'll beat it", always try to bargain your way to a lower price.
-Go to http://www.google.com/ and go to shopping. Usually when you search something there are results for used items that are also cheaper than new.
-Trades. Many places have these, such as Amazon.com, Craigslist, and many, many more. Trades are usually worth it.
